The Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ

The gates were open. The sun warmly greeted those coming to the Feast, as it reflected off of those friendly, familiar domes of St. Steven's Cathedral. The occasion was one of the great Feasts of Our Lord Jesus Christ, celebrating his Transfiguration. This Feast is important for many reasons. The most important one is that it was through this day that Jesus Christ revealed His Divine Glory to His disciples, as far as they could bear it. This helped them to understand why it was necessary that He voluntarily suffer and die for all of our sakes.

St. Steven's Cathedral celebrated this wondrous day with Festal Matins, followed by Divine Liturgy. All in attendance marveled at the hymns and readings describing one of Christ's miracles.

Those attending the Liturgy were invited to partake in of refreshments, which included delicious delicacies like dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), pita, ajvar, humus, and the fruit offered and blessed during the Liturgy. Christ's Fellowship and love was with all as those in attendance eventually had to leave to get back to work, family and other responsibilities. Times like these are so important to recharge our spiritual batteries. Next time, won't you join us?
