2012 Saint Sava Day Children’s Program

On Sunday, January 29, 2012, the Church school presented the latest edition of the Saint Sava Day Children’s Program.  The day began with Matins and Divine Liturgy, concelebrated by Cathedral Dean Fr. Nicholas Ceko, Fr. Ilija Daikovich, Fr. Lazar Vasiljevic – father of our Bishop Maxim – and Fr. Norman Kosanovich; then the children prepared for the festive program that featured dances by the RCA’s folklore dance groups, presentations by the combined Preschool and Kindergarten classes as well as the First through Fourth Graders, and individual student recitations in both Serbian and English.  The M.C.’s for the program were high school seniors Maria Ceko and Ivana Tasic.  The other senior participating in his final program, Charles Stepich, read a moving English translation of Saint Sava’s own words describing the last evening of his father Symeon’s earthly life.  Church school Superintendant Laura Burge introduced the teaching staff and they, together with all children in attendance, joined Fr. Nick on stage to recite the hymn to Saint Sava and for the blessing of the Kolach and Zito because Sava, Enlightener of the Serbian people, is fittingly the Patron Saint of Church school children.  A barbequed rib lunch with delicious desserts was the perfect complement to the day’s festivities.
